I was fumbling through my iPod to resurrect some long forgotten tunes and I decided to give my older Jason Mraz CD’s a whirl again. I’ve been a fan of San Diego based Mraz for years but haven’t spun his older tracks in many moons. I’m sure you’ve heard his current hit, I’m Yours, that’s been circulating on the radio, from his recently released May 2008 CD, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. I just adore his sassy lyrical wordsmith style.

Listening to his earlier songs reminded me why I like him. He makes me smile. And smiling feels good.

There are plenty of tracks you can sink your teeth into and hum over and over again. I heart Mr. Curiosity, The Remedy, You and I Both, Bella Luna, and of course who doesn’t love Geek in the Pink, made even that more famous by the American Idol contest, Chris Richardson. (But of course, Jason’s the real rhythm and rhyme master). Mr. Mraz will be in flapping his chops in Sweden this September and Fattie just surprised me with tickets! Yah!

Here are just a couple videos to get you in the mood.

Jason’s current hit, I’m Yours

and one of my favorite songs, Life is Wonderful from his CD, Mr. A-Z:

Ok, I realize I might be a little obsessive by nature. Even my friends would agree, once I like something I really like it. I’m just loyal and dedicated like that. That’s how I roll.

My current addiction is Brett Dennen.

Yeah, I heard him a couple years ago too but couldn’t really decide how much I liked him – I mean, was I willing to commit, get off my wallet, and fork over the $12.99 for his new CD? Well, after about a year pondering it and getting more & more attached to the 3 songs I did own by this musical master, I decided yes; Brett’s definitely worth it. I immediately – and happily – purchased just about everything by Dennen I could get my grubby paws on and have been playing him non-stop for a few weeks months. (wow – the time has flown by)

Brett Dennen is the passionate, confident, and captivating freckled face 28 year old Californian whom I currently adore. This goofy red haired, sometimes headband wearing, guitar carrying, singer songwriter’s music is brilliant, honest, and completely mesmerizing to me.

Rolling Stone names Brett Dennen as one of the top 10 artists to watch in 2008. (for the full article click here)

They offer this illustration on Brett’s “sound”.

Nick Pitera is unusually talented and has tremendous vocal abilities – you can’t question that. Apparently, some refer to him as the ultimate singing mermaid.

I think he’s an angel.

Just spend 60 seconds listening to him perform Oh Holy Night. I got chills.

Here Nick sings both parts in Disney’s Aladdin song, Whole New World.

Yup.

Both male and female roles. Aladdin AND Jasmine.

That’s it? That’s all you got? Day 10 has been a breeze.

We were able to lounge around the house this morning but my type A personality kicked in….

So, after scouring the ENTIRE abode in some kind of delirious deep cleaning frenzy, I grabbed the in-laws pooch and marched towards the golf club to see how my trusty Fattie was progressing on the remodel. Wow. That guy is bordering on being the handiest person I’ve gazed my eyes upon. F can accomplish anything that crosses his path and truly embraces a challenge. I heart him.

……………………………

10 days on master cleanse. I made it. No cheating.

Also no creamy risotto. No cream brulee. No lemon & herb roasted chicken. No cheese fondue. No rum laced bread pudding. No pinot nior. No cheesy margarita pizza. No fois gras. No ice cold beer. No banana bread. No garlic mashed potatoes. No freshed squeezed orange juice. No juicy filet mignon. No ceasar salad with homemade dressing & crunchy Parmesan croutons. No warm chocolate chip cookies. No diet coke. No Häagen-Dazs. Not even an avocado.

Not one lick.

But this amazing journey has been about a lot more than just a lack of tasty food, which I’m sure will be scrawled down in the upcoming days….

For now, I’m gratefully savoring my last few lemonades.

This song, Blessed by Brett Dennen, sums up exactly how I’m feeling.

As I’m parked here gulping my salt water flush, Jamie Cullum’s song, ‘What A Difference A Day Made’ is running through my noggin.

Yesterday was ok. I was about 70% – which in reality was so much better than the previous days that it felt like paradise. I managed to bundle up and head out for an hour long jaunt in the freshing (but oh so chilly) air and later mixed in 30 blissful minutes of yoga which allowed me to feel a bit more centered and relaxed my body. But by bedtime my lower back was aching again so I begged Fattie to give me a quick back massage followed by another on my neck & shoulders.

It worked. I eased off to never never land with little difficulty.

You know, sleeping in is considered by some as the ultimate luxury. And even though I now have the ability to snooze away the mornings hours in the most heavenly of beds wrapped up with deliciously soft high thread count linens, dreamlike feather pillows, and topped by the coziest down comforter – I don’t. But sometimes your body just craves a couple extra hours of shuteye and I’m ever so happy to be able to comply. zzzzzzz…

Yes, it’s only the beginning of day 5 and I feel great. Light. Clear. Grateful. Inspired. Committed. Positive. Eager. Devoted. Every day is getting easier. Every day is filled with more clarity. Every day is improving.

What a difference a day made. 24 little hours.
